"I find satisfaction in interpreting the beauty and mystery of people and my environment. My West Virginia & Ohio surroundings, as well as travels elsewhere, provide subjects to which I can feel an emotional or intellectual connection. I am drawn to subjects that raise questions such as, "I wonder what is happening inside (or underneath)?", "What could have been experienced there?","What is happening that is not visible?", "What are they thinking/experiencing?". My landscape paintings are executed primarily in acrylic on woven canvas or masonite panel. Portrait paintings are executed in oil on woven canvas. I use color, light and a crisp focus on my subjects as expression. The technique of layering color glazes is common to all my work."
